FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 27, 2009
Nashville, TN – RCA Nashville recording artist Jake Owen spent the week of his album release performing on Good Morning America, giving numerous radio interviews, rocking the stage in Atlanta, celebrating his Nashville Lifestyles cover…and racking up rave reviews. Owen has become one of country music’s hottest young talents, amassing GRAMMY, CMA, and ACM Award nominations along with a string of hit singles, and Jake continues to build on those accomplishments with this past Tuesday’s release of his sophomore album, Easy Does It.
Critics from numerous national publications are singing the praises of Owen and Easy Does It.
“That Mr. Owen rarely sounds out of place is a testament to his mutable, honeyed voice…”
– The New York Times
“Jake Owen kicks off his sophomore effort in rakish lonely-rambler style with the dark, driving ‘Tell Me’ and there’s…passion behind his drawl on single ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.’”
– Entertainment Weekly
“The album is a refreshing mix of thoughtfulness…and testosterone…”
“Owen has got everything running in the right direction. He co-wrote eight of the 10 songs on Easy Does It, an album which could mark a major career breakthrough for one very talented artist.”
– The Republican
“Owen owns a baritone voice that’s practically supernatural in its subtlety and power.”
– Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
“Easy Does It features some real rockers, including ‘Eight Second Ride’ and the woozy ‘Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.’ ‘Cherry On Top’ has a silky, sexy backdrop…”
– Times Herald-Record
Adding to the fanfare of Easy Does It, the red-hot Top 10 “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” continues to race up the country singles charts.
With eight of his new album’s 10 songs co-written by Jake, the disc is very much a reflection of his personality, both in the laidback message of the album title, and in Owen’s approach to what makes great music
In addition to the excitement surrounding the release of Easy Does It, Jake recently earned a pair of nominations for The 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, where he’s up for Vocal Event of the Year, as well as the fan-voted Top New Male Vocalist. Voting is currently underway through March 5th at http://www.gactv.com/.
Owen first hit the national scene with the release of his debut album, Startin’ with Me, which launched a trio of hit singles, including the title track, “Yee Haw,” and “Something about a Woman.” Since then, he’s toured with some of country music’s biggest names, including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Sugarland.
